Folk lore says that this rose was named
for the garden of Madame de
Pompadour of Crecy.
    Origin:Prior to 1850
    Hybrid: Gallica
    Growth Pattern: Lax Shrub - Very beautiful coloured rose and fragrant too.
    Opening deep violet and quickly developes tones of mauve, lavender and
    pink. Bloom form is Old Rose; very double with incurved petals forming an
    eye. Very fragrant. Coarse foliage and bristly canes instead of thorns.
    Hardy to zone 4
    Blooms once in June for three -four weeks
    Very Fragrant:
    Bush is lax and semi-vigorous growing about 5' x 4'. Coarse foliage
    medium green and healthy.
