Felix LeClerc
Canadian Bred, Winter hardy Shrub Rose
Felix Leclerc is one of the first two roses to be released under the Canadian Artist Series of Roses. When Agriculture
Canada gave up the popular Explorer and Parkland series of roses a group of nurseries took over the existing plants not
yet released and carried on the work. Now, after several years they have started releasing some new roses from the old
program.
Oh, just another pink climbing rose you say, well this pink can catch your eye from quite a distance.
I like to call it "electric pink".
A semi-vigorous climbing bush that doesn't  overtake a trellis like John Cabot or William Baffin. It's foliage is a nice,
medium green and it has a very good resistance to blackspot and mildew. Very good re-bloomer.
Felix Leclerc's arching habit makes it ideal for growing as a low climbing rose (7-8') when bud grafted
or a nice 6' on it's
own roots. Felix Leclerc takes a couple of growing seasons to get strongly established, but performs exceptionally well
once established. Winter hardy to zone 3.
Like all modern climbers it loves it's sun and nourishment so give it plenty and it will thrive in any cold Canadian climate!
